30 Years of Hope
Tony thought he was just “feeling unwell” until a biopsy confirmed prostate cancer. Thanks to the rapid care and expert radiotherapy at Clatterbridge, Tony is back on the golf course and making memories with his two grandchildren.
This March, for Prostate Cancer Awareness Month and our 30th Anniversary, we are asking you if you can make a donation. Your support ensures that when the next person “just knows something isn’t right,” Clatterbridge is there to provide the life-saving treatment they deserve.

Tony is about to turn 70. He’s a man who loves the simple things: a round of golf, his massive (but soft-hearted) German Shepherd, and, most importantly, being a grandad to his two grandchildren.
In late 2022, life took an unexpected turn. Despite low PSA levels, Tony felt unwell. He trusted his gut and went back for more tests. An MRI and a biopsy soon confirmed his fears; it was prostate cancer.
“I didn’t want to sit and wait. I wanted it dealt with, especially so I could continue to be around to spend time with my grandchildren.”
From the moment Tony was referred to The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre, the momentum never stopped. His journey took him through hormone therapy, scans, and four weeks of radiotherapy across our Liverpool and Wirral centers. For Tony, it wasn’t just the treatment that saved him, it was the way he was treated.
“The communication was unbelievable. I always felt like everyone knew exactly what was going on.”
Tony finished his treatment just before Christmas 2023. Today, he’s back on the golf course, raising money to ensure the next person who walks through our doors receives the same life-saving care he did.
As Clatterbridge Cancer Charity marks its 30th Anniversary, we are looking ahead to the next three decades of success stories.
