At Clatterbridge, we are lucky to have some incredible supporters, but it’s extra special when those supporters have experienced our care firsthand.
Today, we’re sharing the story of Lynsey, who works for HM3 Legal. After navigating a difficult journey at our Wirral centre, she’s now leading the charge with her colleagues to give back through our Glow Green Night Walks.
In the lead-up to Christmas 2021, Lynsey found a lump in her left breast. By the time the decorations were coming down, she was at The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre – Wirral for a series of mammograms, ultrasounds, and biopsies.
Because this happened during COVID-19 restrictions, Lynsey had to face the news alone. After a long week of waiting for results, she was told she would need:
- A lumpectomy
- Six months of chemotherapy
- Three weeks of radiotherapy
All-in-all, Lynsey spent a full year in treatment.
“They made me feel so at ease”
Despite the daunting nature of treatment—especially radiotherapy—Lynsey remembers the “absolutely fantastic” staff who helped her through.
“Everyone from the staff on reception, to those on the chemotherapy ward and radiotherapy, they were all brilliant. They made me feel so at ease, especially in radiotherapy where it is quite daunting.”
When it came time for Lynsey’s employer, HM3 Legal, to choose their charities of the year, Lynsey says it was a “no-brainer” for her to vote for Clatterbridge.
We are thrilled to have them on board! So far, around 20 employees have signed up for our Glow Green Night Walks. Lynsey and her team already took on the Liverpool walk on February 6th, describing it as “absolutely fantastic.”
But they aren’t done yet!
Next Stop: Chester
While the Liverpool team has crossed their finish line, more colleagues from HM3 Legal are preparing to take on the Glow Green Night Walk in Chester on Friday, February 27th.
