A Unique Approach To Palliative Care

Palliative care research is often underfunded, yet improvements in this area can significantly benefit patients and their loved ones.

At Clatterbridge, we are fortunate to have a dedicated and nationally-recognized team that has received numerous awards for their advancements in end-of-life care.

We have awarded a £50,000 research grant to Dr. Seamus Coyle to support his efforts to enhance the quality of palliative care services both locally and nationally for those who die from cancer.

Dr. Coyle’s research focuses on better understanding the stages of a patient’s declining health. With this grant, he aims to develop a simple urine test that can indicate when a patient is in their final days or weeks of life. This innovative technology has the potential to greatly impact not only cancer patients but anyone in need of end-of-life care. It will enable medical staff to make more informed decisions about how and where to treat patients, ensuring they receive the best possible care during their final moments.

Your support is crucial in making this vital research possible.

Together, we can improve the quality of life for patients and provide comfort to their families during challenging times.

Emma Rodgers

The Clatterbridge Fairy was specially created by our Charity Patron, internationally acclaimed sculptor, Emma Rodgers.

We asked Emma to share why she's supporting our Fairy Appeal:
"I have been a Patron of Clatterbridge Cancer Charity for 14 years now, as my mum is cared for there. They are incredible with her and getting the 'all clear' was a wonderful moment. They've done more for me than I can ever do for them, so creating the Fairy seems a small thing, really.

And this year I will be dedicating my Fairy to Professor Myint and the Team at Clatterbridge love from Emma, Milly, Annie and family."
