Returning in February 2026 to celebrate its fifth anniversary, the Glow Green Night Walk is set to be bigger than ever — with a brand-new walk added in Chester!

Glow Green is a fantastic opportunity to gather with friends and family, enjoy a fun 8k route, and raise vital funds to support cancer patients across Merseyside and Cheshire.

Earlier this year, 1,500 walkers lit up Liverpool, with iconic landmarks including St George’s Hall, St John’s Beacon, and The Royal Liver Building glowing green in solidarity.

And now, for the first time, Chester will host its own Glow Green Night Walk, giving even more people the chance to take part in this uplifting and meaningful event.

Both walks will take place in February 2026, marking World Cancer Day — a time to honour those affected by cancer, thank the people who care for them, and celebrate life-saving research happening right here in our region.

Registration is now open, and those who sign up before 31 October will receive a free lantern to dedicate to a loved one, a special staff member, or in celebration of life. These lanterns will form part of the event’s moving lantern display, one of the most poignant moments of the evening.

  • Liverpool Glow Green Night Walk: Friday, 6 February – the Liverpool event is proudly sponsored by Arriva for the third consecutive year.
  • Chester Glow Green Night Walk: Friday, 27 February

Last year, walkers raised an incredible £270,000, helping Clatterbridge Cancer Charity make a real difference to people affected by cancer.

What you need to know

Glow Green Night Walk takes place on Friday February 6th 2026 in Liverpool and Friday February 27th 2026 in Chester!

Glow Green will start at the Museum of Liverpool in Liverpool or at the Chester Racecourse in Chester!

Both routes will pass by some of each city’s most iconic landmarks, illuminated in green. Along the way, walkers will enjoy performances from local choirs and bands, and pause for reflection at stunning lantern displays — on the steps of the Metropolitan Cathedral in Liverpool and at a central location in Chester.

You will be able to come and collect your Glow Green T-Shirt, walker numbers, sponsor forms and message cards. The dates for your collection days will be confirmed in the next couple of weeks. You can also collect for other members of your team as long as you have their ticket.

As with all Charity events it's vitally important that we look to raise as much as we can for our cause, and Glow Green is no different!

The Registration Fee for the event is £20 and we ask that each participant fundraises a minimum of £50, or alternatively if you do not wish to fundraise we offer you the chance at registration to make a £50 donation per person then instead!

Registration fees help the Charity to cover the cost of staging the event, and the fundraising helps us to provide outstanding facilities and care to those who need The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre in our region.

YES!

We are selling a wide range of neon merchandise in our signature shade of green for you to shine and brighten up Liverpool during your walk!

These will be available to purchase on the day only. We did previously sell online however we have now made an adjustment and will only be selling on the night from this point forward.

If you have already purchased your Neon Merchandise, do not worry as we will be in touch regarding how you will receive this.

Please note that to activate your neon merchandise all you need to do is snap and shake your glow sticks. After that, they will last for up to 8 hours - so plenty of time to 'glow off' with your family and friends!

We will be highlighting for you exactly what we have available for you to buy ahead of the event date.

Walkers will also have the opportunity to pause and reflect, as hundreds of lanterns will light up the steps of the Metropolitan Cathedral, each representing someone special.

We know how important it is to think of someone close to you, and whether you are taking part to support your loved ones or you are walking in memory of someone special our Celebration of Life Lanterns are the perfect way to celebrate and remember those who've been touched by The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre.

Our Lanterns can be personalised with your own message of hope, love and support for those close to you and can be purchased in advance of Glow Green, or on the night and are priced at £5.

Once you have purchased your Celebration Lantern, we will deliver them to the steps of the Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral, where you are free to take a moment with your family and friends and remember someone special in your lives.

Emma Rodgers

The Clatterbridge Fairy was specially created by our Charity Patron, internationally acclaimed sculptor, Emma Rodgers.

We asked Emma to share why she's supporting our Fairy Appeal:
"I have been a Patron of Clatterbridge Cancer Charity for 14 years now, as my mum is cared for there. They are incredible with her and getting the 'all clear' was a wonderful moment. They've done more for me than I can ever do for them, so creating the Fairy seems a small thing, really.

And this year I will be dedicating my Fairy to Professor Myint and the Team at Clatterbridge love from Emma, Milly, Annie and family."
