Garden of Light
Between 24th November and 6th December, the iconic St Luke’s Bombed Out Church in Liverpool will be transformed into the Garden of Light – a breathtaking installation of more than 1,800 illuminated metal flowers, each one representing someone special.
Beautifully designed by our Charity Patron, Emma Rodgers, every flower dedication tells a unique story and helps support local people and their families affected by cancer.
You can dedicate a flower:
🌼 To someone living with cancer.
🌼 To yourself, wherever you are on your cancer journey.
🌼 To a member of hospital staff or a ward who has made a difference.
🌼 In loving memory of someone special.
By dedicating a flower, you’ll help support The Clatterbridge Cancer Centres in Liverpool, Wirral, and Aintree and the network of treatment clinics across the region. Your support will help fund pioneering research, including clinical trials giving more patients access to new treatments and hope for the future.
For a suggested donation of £20, you’ll receive a keepsake decoration.
One of our garden stewards will write your dedication and place it in the Garden of Light on your behalf.
Unfortunatley, we won’t be able to guarantee exactly where in the Garden Of Light your dedication will be placed.
Visit the Garden of Light
From 24 November to 6 December 2026 between 4pm to 7pm, the Garden of Light will fill the Bombed Out Church with a sea of illuminated flowers, creating a peaceful and inspiring place to pause.
Whether you’re reflecting on your own journey, celebrating someone you love, remembering someone you’ve lost, or giving thanks to those who have cared for you, we invite you to wander through this tranquil space and take a moment for yourself.
Frequently Answered Questions
The Garden of Light will be displayed inside St Luke’s Bombed Out Church. You can enter through the gates on Leece Street. Please note that the stairway entrance will not be in use during the evenings.
The Garden of Light will be staffed by Clatterbridge Cancer Charity staff and volunteers from 24 November to 6 December, between 4pm and 7pm.
The Bombed Out Church will also be open from 10am to 4pm apart from on a Monday, so you’re welcome to visit the Garden during these hours. Please note that the Bombed Out Church is an independent not-for-profit organisation and may invite visitors to make a donation on entry. This donation is entirely optional and does not go to Clatterbridge Cancer Charity.
Yes. You are welcome to dedicate as many flowers as you wish.
No. Once the Garden of Light closes on 6 December, the flowers and their dedications will be carefully moved to the Winter Garden at The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre – Liverpool. There, the installation will continue to bring comfort and hope to patients, visitors and staff throughout the festive season.
No. The Winter Garden is not open to the public. However, you will still be able to view the Garden of Light from outside the hospital and through the windows.
Yes. For a suggested donation of £20 or more, you’ll receive a commemorative decoration as a lasting reminder of your dedication.
