Aldi Winter Fund grant for Clatterbridge Cancer Charity

We are thrilled to announce that Clatterbridge Cancer Charity has been awarded a £1,000 grant from Aldi to support our work within the local community over the winter months.

Our charity is dedicated to providing exceptional cancer care, pioneering research, and vital support for patients and families across Merseyside, Cheshire, and the Isle of Man. We were nominated by numerous people after Aldi called on shoppers to put forward good causes to receive a share of its Winter Fund.

Clatterbridge Cancer Charity is one of 10 organisations across the UK to receive this grant, with a total of £10,000 being donated to support communities in the lead-up to Christmas.

The generous donation from Aldi will go towards funding auricular acupuncture for men with prostate cancer who are receiving treatment at our centre. This initiative is part of our ongoing commitment to support those affected by cancer across Merseyside and Cheshire.

Liz Fox, National Sustainability Director at Aldi, commented: “The winter period can be an incredibly challenging time, so our Winter Fund aims to further our commitment to supporting good causes across the UK. We received a huge number of nominations for so many wonderful organisations, and we hope the funds will help each organisation to continue their incredible work within their local communities this winter.”

Elspeth Wilson, Trusts and Foundations Fundraiser at Clatterbridge Cancer Charity, expressed our gratitude: “On behalf of Clatterbridge Cancer Charity, we’re so grateful for the incredibly generous donation of £1,000 from the Aldi Winter Fund. Each year, The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre treats approximately 36,000 patients from Merseyside, Cheshire, the Isle of Man, and surrounding areas, with just over 6,000 of these diagnosed with prostate cancer. This fantastic support will help ensure that patients at Clatterbridge receive the best possible care throughout the festive period and in the months and years to come.”

In addition to this grant, Aldi will be supporting those in need over the festive period by donating more than one million meals to local charities, community groups, and foodbanks across the UK. Shoppers can also contribute by donating food at the community donation points in Aldi stores nationwide.

We are incredibly grateful for Aldi’s support and the continued generosity of our community. Together, we can make a significant difference in the lives of those affected by cancer.

Emma Rodgers

The Clatterbridge Fairy was specially created by our Charity Patron, internationally acclaimed sculptor, Emma Rodgers.

We asked Emma to share why she's supporting our Fairy Appeal:
"I have been a Patron of Clatterbridge Cancer Charity for 14 years now, as my mum is cared for there. They are incredible with her and getting the 'all clear' was a wonderful moment. They've done more for me than I can ever do for them, so creating the Fairy seems a small thing, really.

And this year I will be dedicating my Fairy to Professor Myint and the Team at Clatterbridge love from Emma, Milly, Annie and family."
