Two brothers from Connah’s Quay are preparing to push themselves to the limit in one of the UK’s toughest endurance events—all to raise money for Clatterbridge Cancer Charity and support people like their dad, Lee.
Callum and Mitchel Williams will take on Tough Mudder Infinity this July, a grueling eight-hour challenge where participants complete as many 15km obstacle course laps as possible. They’re doing it to say thank you for the care their dad has received at The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre, where he is currently undergoing treatment for stage 4 cancer.
“We were all in complete shock when my dad was diagnosed,” said Callum. “He’s always been so healthy—my mum’s only ever known him to have a cold. The care he’s had from Clatterbridge has been amazing. The staff have been so kind and supportive from the very beginning.”
The brothers will be joined by a group of friends at the event in Skipton, determined to raise funds and awareness for the charity that’s helped their family through such a difficult time.
For Callum, an engineer and martial arts enthusiast, the challenge has also become a personal focus.
“I train in ju-jitsu most days, but I’ve had to step up my training with more running to prepare for this. It’s going to be tough, but doing it for Clatterbridge made it a no-brainer. If we can help other families like ours, that’s what matters.”
Their fundraising will help Clatterbridge Cancer Charity continue to support patients and families across the region, fund life-saving treatments, and invest in vital research.
Rachel Heslin, Events Fundraiser at Clatterbridge Cancer Charity, shared her thanks:
“We’re so grateful to Callum and Mitchel for taking on this incredible challenge, and we send our very best wishes to their dad, Lee. It’s thanks to amazing fundraisers like them that we can continue supporting the one in two people affected by cancer in our region.”
