Payroll Giving

Payroll giving is such an easy and worthwhile initiative that’s been successful all over the world! It’s a fantastic way for your employees to show support for your partner charity.

Here’s how it works: every month, your employees can choose to donate a discretionary amount to Clatterbridge Cancer Charity through their payroll. The best part? It’s a pre-tax contribution!

By setting up this type of payroll charity giving for your employees, you’ll be helping us to support the life-saving work of The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre. Let’s make a difference together!

Benefits of Payroll Giving

For businesses

  • Helps with corporate responsibility – it showcases your commitment to supporting good causes
  • Boosts staff morale – employees appreciate being given the chance to contribute
  • Hassle-free – Payroll Giving is easy to set up and manage

For businesses

Total convenience – the donations come straight from your pay

Tax effective – it costs you less to give more

Flexible – you decide how much to donate, and deductions are only taken when you are in employment

It’s really easy to set up Payroll Giving through your payroll team and it’s incredible to see what can be achieved from the pennies and pounds given through this scheme.

How does Payroll Giving work?

So what is Payroll Giving, and how exactly does it work? This type of giving allows you to donate to charity without being taxed on the contribution. It is paid through PAYE from employees’ wages, or through their pensions.

As a business, you can use a Payroll Giving agency to set the scheme up on your behalf. Once the scheme is in place, you can make the agreed deductions every time you run payroll. This money will come out of your workers’ pay after National Insurance but before tax. Then simply send the donated money to your agency, and they will pass it on to us.

Transforming cancer care across the region

When you donate to us, you are helping The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre support people with cancer across Merseyside, Cheshire and beyond. Your money funds life saving research into everything from improved radiotherapy treatments with reduced side effects to new cancer drugs, including the cancer vaccines that we specialise in. You are also helping to pay for cutting-edge technology, such as the linear accelerator we recently installed – a type of radiotherapy machine that is speeding up cancer treatment.

Not only this, but your contributions allow us to pay for initiatives to enhance the patient environment, such as our recent year-long collaboration with the Liverpool Royal Philharmonic that saw patients enjoy performances and interactive music workshops across our sites.

With your help, we are driving better outcomes for people with cancer.

Emma Rodgers

The Clatterbridge Fairy was specially created by our Charity Patron, internationally acclaimed sculptor, Emma Rodgers.

We asked Emma to share why she's supporting our Fairy Appeal:
"I have been a Patron of Clatterbridge Cancer Charity for 14 years now, as my mum is cared for there. They are incredible with her and getting the 'all clear' was a wonderful moment. They've done more for me than I can ever do for them, so creating the Fairy seems a small thing, really.

And this year I will be dedicating my Fairy to Professor Myint and the Team at Clatterbridge love from Emma, Milly, Annie and family."
